Pertanyaan

The pupils followed the teacher to visit a fruit farm last week. There were 4360 oranges and mangosteens in the farm. There were 456 more mangosteens than oranges. How many mangosteens were there?

1 Jawaban

  • let o = amount of oranges
         m = amount of mangosteens

    then:
    o + m = 4360
    m = 456 + o (456 more mangosteens than oranges)

    substitute m into the first eq.:
    o + m = 4360
    o + (456 + o) = 4360
    2o = 3904
    o = 1952

    substitute o = 3904 back into the first eq.:
    1952 + m = 4360
    m = 2408

    Therefore, there are 2408 mangosteens.
